Animal cruelty is wrong, I never said it was right, I said its a sick society that cares more for the welfare of animals than humans. When the courts of this country spend more time and energy protecting the lives of animals over the lives of humans, well call it what you want, its sick. Anyone that enjoys those nice white eggs in the grocery stores that look so clean, visit a egg farm and look at animal abuse up close. Those chickens are kept in battery cages, cages the size of a battery, they lay eggs for 1 year, which is all the are able to because their bodies cant produce anymore due to manipulation of their environment, and then they are slaughtered and you guessed it, KFC, nasty, but we eat it.

Good points indeed from both preceeding posts. Most people don't realize the reality of chicken farms and such. Also, it is quite sad that human life, regardles of what form, is taken so lightly. Overall, generations have for years continually claimed that society is getting worse, but I disagree with that notion. Some things may be quite corrupt; all a person has to do is watch an hour of MTV and take note of the moral decay that is evident there. Fortunately, for those lapses in societal progress, there are great strides forward that illustrate the progress of humankind (aid for disasters, homeless, battered women, and so on). Ultimately perception is reality. We'll see what reinforces our beliefs and miss those that don't. Given such a phenomena (Selective Perception) it's probably better to look at the future with hope.

The thing about it is...abortion is not illegal, it's a choice that a woman chooses to take that concerns her own body. So, it's not like people do you care about an unborn child's life, because there are campaigns fighting against abortion. The government is not ignoring abortion, it's one of the most debated topic today so no the government isn't turning away from abortion or anything like that. Abortions are going to happen no matter if it is legal or illegal, right now abortions are performed in a medical facility. If abortion were illegal, people would be performing abortions at home, which would be a lot more damaging. The fact of the matter is, animal abuse is illegal and cruel and just like a unborn baby animals have no control over how they are treated. Of course animals and human babies are different, but the government should not be attacked because they choose to obide by the laws that are on the books right now. Society is sick, yes, but society is not putting animals over humans because we are selfish beings anyway...we would never put lowly animals over us. Society is going by what laws are written down right now.
